Ice Age: In one scene, Manny, Sid, and Diego view a cave drawing of a family of mammoths, the female and offspring of which are killed by a group of humans. The drawing is revealed to be the loss of Manny's mate and son, and possibly explains why he is so isolated and withdrawn.
Ice Age: The Meltdown: Manny, depressed because he thinks that he is the last remaining mammoth, is surprised when he encounters Ellie, a female mammoth. However, she believes that she is a possum, due to the fact that she was adopted by a family of possums at a young age. He develops an interest in her, but when Diego asks what is holding him back, he says his family, referring to his mate and son who were depicted in the cave drawing of the first film. After Ellie realizes her true identity, she and Manny admit their feelings for each other and become a couple.
Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs: Manny and Ellie are expecting a baby, and Manny's life has become more domestic than in the two previous films, and he shows great concern for his mate during her pregnancy. He is a protective father, trying to make sure that the world around their baby will be safe, and Ellie remarks that he is attempting to "baby-proof nature". At the end of the film, Ellie gives birth to a baby female, who they name Peaches, which was their code-word for when Ellie goes into labor, because, like the fruit, Peaches is "sweet and round and covered with fuzz".
ice Age: Continental Drift: Peaches, now a teenager, is attempting to branch out on her own. Manny, like the father of any teenage girl, is very protective, and does not approve of her trying to grow up. When they are separated because of an iceberg splitting the land, Ellie and Peaches are left to lead the herd, while Sid, Diego, and Manny are set afloat on a drifting piece of ice. Throughout the film, Ellie and Peaches worry about Manny, who, in turn, is desperately trying to return to his mate and child.
